Integrating Remotely Sensed Data with Other Spatial Data Sets to Predict Areas at Risk from Salinity
نویسنده
چکیده
Secondary salinity caused by rising saline groundwater due to the clearing of land for agriculture has caused serious loss of productive land in Western Australia. In 1989, the Australian Bureau of Statistics conducted a survey of farmers which reported that 443 441 ha or 2.83 percent of the 15.7 million ha of cleared land in south-western Australia was saline. A further survey in 1994 showed that this area had increased to 3.1 percent.

Spatiotemporal Estimation of PM2.5 Concentration Using Remotely Sensed Data, Machine Learning, and Optimization Algorithms
PM 2.5 (particles <2.5 μm in aerodynamic diameter) can be measured by ground station data in urban areas, but the number of these stations and their geographical coverage is limited. Therefore, these data are not adequate for calculating concentrations of Pm2.5 over a large urban area. This study aims to use Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) satellite images and meteorological data from 2014 to 2017 ...
متن کاملSpatiotemporal analysis of remotely sensed Landsat time series data for monitoring 32 years of urbanization
The world is witnessing a dramatic shift of settlement pattern from rural to urban population, particularly in developing countries. The rapid Addis Ababa urbanization reflects this global phenomenon and the subsequent socio-economic and environmental impacts, are causing massive public uproar and political instability. The objective of this study was to use remotely sensed Landsat data to iden...

The capability of Degree Heating Weeks index (DHWs) was examined for prediction of bleaching events in the coral reef communities of the Kish Island located in the north of the Persian Gulf. In doing so, weekly Sea Surface Temperature (SST) values (in 1°×1° spatial resolution) prepared by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), coupled with documented bleaching events, such...
متن کاملSoil salinity detection using RS data
Soil salinity refers to the state of accumulation of soluble salts in the root zone to adversely affect the growth of most crops. It is a severe environmental degradation that impedes crop growth and production [1]. The conventional processes for the detection, monitoring and mapping of salt-affected soil are known to be difficult and dynamic.(206khan). Remote Sensing has the ability to predict...

The present study is the first attempt to examine temporal and spatial characteristics of aerosol properties and classify their modes over Iran. The data used in this study include the records of Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and Angstrom Exponent (AE) from MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Aerosol Index (AI) from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI), obtained from 2005 t...
